About x-ray travel

Stories, not selfies

Insights, not Instagram

Overlooked, not overbooked

Who visits the Parthenon, St Mark’s Square or Machu Picchu just to take selfies?

Who “does” Europe in a week, Italy in a weekend and Paris in 24 hours?

Who thinks that a regimented guided tour or swift packaged excursion provides an “authentic experience”?

A lot of people.

This blog is not for those people.

It’s for the travellers who are more interested in exploring a place, its history, culture and people, than in snapping pictures of themselves.

For those who realise that the “been there, done that, where’s next?” mentality means passing through without touching the sides.

And for those more adventurous souls not afraid to go slightly off-piste and open themselves up to the unexpected, the off-beat and the quirky.

I’m not an academic, expert or travel professional. Just someone with bags of curiosity who believes you only get to the really interesting stuff by burrowing under the surface.
